(08/18/25) ZACHARY, La. — The East Baton Rouge Master Gardeners will present programs on African violets and succulents on Thursday, Sept. 11. The program will be held at the Zachary Branch Library, 1900 Church St. in Zachary.

Master Gardener and landscape horticulturist Whitney Briggs has been a Master Gardener for two years and is a native of Baton Rouge who loves African violets. She will present all she has learned about them, such as the different varieties, how and where to grow them and how to propagate them and give them to friends so they can grow to love them too.

Our second presenter will be Master Gardener Nancy Jurasinski, who has loved plants since she was a little girl helping her dad in the garden. She has been a Master Gardener for 10 years.

Jurasinski will present the world of succulents – plants that are easy to grow and easy to kill. There are many different types, and each needs its own special care.

The program will start promptly at 6:30 p.m. It is free and open to the public.
