01. Message from your 4-H Agent
A major part of 4-H is learning how to use your hands for larger service to help your community. We want you to make a special effort to help those around you. Some ways that you can engage in your community is by participating in the 4-H Toy and Food Drive and our first major parish-wide event – our 4-H MLK Day of Service. Everyone is encouraged to do their part to give back with 4-H by using your hands to serve our St. Charles Parish community and beyond!

02. Rock your 4-H Records! (4th-12th graders)
Throughout the year, 4-H
members are encouraged to keep records of all 4-H and non-4-H leadership,
community service, and awards in which they have participated or received. All
4-H Record Books will be due to the 4-H Agent by April 1. 4-H members who are
recognized as Outstanding 4-H Records Award recipients at the parish
level will be considered for the State 4-H Records Contest. Congratulations to MacKenzie
Bellanger and Dalton Zammit who were recognized as State 4-H
Records Contest Award Winners this summer! More information on this contest
will be posted in your School 4-H Club Google Classroom. Contact your 4-H Agent
with any questions or for more information.
03. Parish Community Project Clubs meet in November
St. Charles Parish students are invited to participate in our Parish 4-H Community Clubs! Each club will conduct activities this month. Visit our social media, website, and your 4-H Club Google Classroom or contact your 4-H Agent for information on first meeting dates.

- Fashion Club (4th-12th grade) - Wednesday evening workshops once a month; More as needed
- Home School Club (K – 12th grade) - Monday afternoon meetings once a month
- CHEF Club (4th-6th grade) - Tuesday evening meetings once a month
- Shooting Sports Club (10 years– 12th grade) - Sunday afternoon practices 1-2 times per month, safety meeting, & competitions
- Jr. Leaders (7th-12th grade) - Tuesday evening meetings once a month, service projects, & more
04. Beyond Ready - Enrollment
Goal: To increase school & community club membership
Spotlight: Hahnville High School 4-H
Congratulations to HHS 4-H for recruiting new high school club members! Members enjoyed teambuilding, popcorn, and planning service projects and leadership opportunities. As a reminder to all clubs, 4-H enrollment forms are due to our LSU AgCenter Office by November 1, 2025.
Award Incentive: Each club who increases by at least 1 member will receive support for a 4-H club party and/or awards for the club’s 4-H members and 4-H Leaders.
05. Beyond Ready - Leadership
Goal: To increase participation in 4-H Jr. Leaders &
enhanced leadership opportunities
Spotlight: 4-H Jr. Leader Club (for 7th-12th graders)

06. Beyond Ready - Civic Engagement
Goal: For every club to participate in a community
service or service-learning project
Spotlight: 4-H Toy and Food Drive
Celebrate the season by using your hands to larger service! 4-H clubs are encouraged to conduct a Toy and/or Food Drive to help our community. Clubs may donate to school families or contact your 4-H Agent by December 1 for collection and donation options.
Award Incentive: Every club who reports participating
in at least 1 service-learning cycle/project and/or 3 community service
projects by March 15 will receive an award.
07. Beyond Ready - 4-H Camp & 4-H University
Goal: To increase attendance at 4-H Camp and to have at
least 10 youth participate in 4-H University contests or Clover College program
Spotlight: St. Charles Parish 4-H’er as Shooting Sports Ambassador
Congratulations to Claire Oehldrich, who was recognized at 4-H University this summer as a State 4-H Shooting Sports Ambassador! This year she will advocate and serve 4-H Shooting Sports at conferences, competitions, and more.

08. 4-H Culinary Arts Contest (for 4th-12th graders)
All
4-H members are encouraged to participate in the culinary arts contest. These
contests help our 4-H members grow in their cooking experience and skill level
while enjoying quality time with families who assist them with the safety rules
and sharing of traditional family recipes. The 4-H Culinary Arts contest will
be split into different submission dates. Members will need to complete the 4-H Culinary Arts Registration Form by the submission date to be considered for judging.
All rules are posted on the online registration form.

4-H
members are asked to bring 2 servings of their dish, cold and on ice, in
a sealed, non-returnable container on the submission date for each contest between
9:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. at the St. Charles Parish LSU AgCenter Office,
located at 453 Spruce Street in Norco, La.
09. 4-H Photography Contest (for K-12th graders)
Do you enjoy taking pictures? Consider entering the 4-H Photography Contest! Take pictures based on the categories listed below. Official rules are listed in the online form. Complete the 4-H Photography Contest Online Form by the dates listed below. Contest submissions may be submitted early. No late submissions will be accepted.

10. 4-H All-Around Style Contest
Using your
resources is a great skill to learn through 4-H. For this contest, we do not
want you to buy anything! Use 1 piece of clothing in your closet to be the
feature article of clothing that you style for three different occasions: (1)
casual, (2) dressy, and (3) job interview. Official rules are listed in the
online form. Complete the 4-H All-Around Style Contest Form by February 1, 2026. Contest submissions may
be submitted early. No late submissions will be accepted.
11. 4-H Virtual Talent Show Contest
Do you
have a talent that you would like to share with our 4-H family? Consider participating
in our Virtual Talent Show by submitting a video of you performing your talent.
Complete the 4-H Talent Show Contest Form by February 1, 2026. Contest submissions may be submitted early. No late submissions
will be accepted.
12. 4-H Virtual Pet Show Contest
Do you
have a pet that you take care of? We want to hear all about it! Submit a video
of you and your pet while answering questions. Complete the 4-H Pet Show Contest Form by February 1, 2026. Contest submissions may
be submitted early. No late submissions will be accepted.
13. State 4-H Fashion and Beyond On Tour Day Camp
This Louisiana State 4-H adventure (1 day) is for current 5th-12th grade 4-H members. This experience will be held January 19, 2026 (in Crowley, La.) or January 24, 2026 (in Alexandria, La.) Selected participants will learn basic sewing skills and enjoy creating various fashion projects. Space is limited. Complete the 4-H Fashion Camp Online Application for consideration to attend. See application for details and fees.
Parish Application Due Date: November 15, 2025.
14. State 4-H Honor Cord Award
This is a Louisiana State 4-H Award that recognizes
4-H graduating seniors for their participation in the Louisiana 4-H program
during their high school career. The 4-H Honor Cords are issued for members to
wear at their high school graduation. For more information on applying, contact
your 4-H Agent.
15. Parish 4-H Senior Jacket Award
This is a Parish 4-H Award that recognizes 4-H
graduating seniors for their participation in the St. Charles Parish and
Louisiana 4-H program during their high school career. 4-H members can remember
their 4-H experience while wearing a jacket that supports the St. Charles
Parish 4-H Program. For more information on applying, contact your 4-H Agent.
16. State 4-H Night with the New Orleans Pelicans
This is a Louisiana State 4-H opportunity to
experience a professional basketball game with 4-H families and friends! Join
other 4-H members and families for a tailgate event prior to the New Orleans
Pelicans professional basketball game at the Smoothie King Center in New
Orleans. The event will be held on Friday, January 30, 2026. The
tailgating opportunities are available to those who purchase tickets with the
4-H program, but space is limited. The deadline to purchase tickets is January
2, 2026. Transportation to and from event is on your own. Contact your 4-H
Agent for more details.
17. 4-H MLK Day of Service

Event Information:
Date: Monday, January 19, 2026
For: 4-H members & families
Location: St. Charles Parish LSU AgCenter Office (453 Spruce Street, Norco, La.)
Schedule:
- 8:00 a.m. – 8:30 a.m. - Orientation for 4-H Jr. Leaders, High School Members, and Adult Volunteers
- 8:30 a.m. – 9:00 a.m. - Sign-in for general 4-H members (K-8th grade) and families
- 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon - 4-H Day of Service Activities
Activities:
4-H'ers will participate in a full service-learning cycle. This event will include an assortment of activities that will address our Louisiana State 4-H Service-Learning focus – Environmental Awareness. 4-H’ers will celebrate their success of completing a service-learning project.Important Event Information:
- This event is open to all St. Charles Parish 4-H members who are registered and approved in 4-H Online.
- Registered members should check their email prior to attending for any reminders or changes.
- All 4-H members must pre-register by completing the 4-H Civic Engagement Event Online Registration Form.
