Summer is slowly winding down, and school is starting and that also means we are kicking off our 4-H Program for the year! In 4-H our motto is “To Make the Best Better, and that is what we try to do with each of our youth. We try to help make well-rounded productive citizens by giving them opportunities to learn and grow while making lifelong friends and having fun! West Feliciana 4-H has a lot of fun things planned this year.
4-H is open to students from 4th to 12th grade, and we have clubs at Bains Elementary, West Feliciana Middle, West Feliciana High, The Homeschool Co-Op, Audubon Academy and members can also join as Members-At-Large. This is specifically for members who are doing other clubs at school, but would like to still participate in parish, district, and statewide 4-H activities or for members who attend schools such as
Along with school meetings, 4-H’ers have the opportunity to join project clubs such as Livestock Club, Horse Club, Mission Nutrition, Rabbit Club, Shooting Sports, Junior Leaders, Horticulture and our Sewing Club. Most of our project clubs will be kicking off in August and September so keep an eye out for the next meeting!
West Feliciana 4-H also has fun workshops planned, fundraisers, contests, camps and many more things coming this year! We will be having STEM and pet project themed workshops, livestock shows, our annual contest day, pumpkin carving contest, garden contest, wildlife workshop days, cookery contest and much more. Please check out our monthly newsletter and Facebook for updates on our calendar! Remember 4-H is ten dollars to join for the year. You can get enrollment forms here at the 4-H Office located at 10032 West Feliciana Parkway St. Francisville, LA or I can email them to you! We are excited to see our program grow this year.
