(08/21/26) BATON ROUGE, La. — On Thursday, Sept. 24, the East Baton Rouge Master Gardeners will present Seed Starting and Growing Herbs at the Jones Creek Library at 6222 Jones Creek Road, as part of their library series.

LSU AgCenter parish agent Bert Hammett will share his tricks to growing plants from seeds. Does the medium you grow them in matter? How deep should they be planted? Does fertilizer or seed starter make a difference? What percentage of seeds usually will grow? Learn all about how to start plants from seeds from someone who knows.

Having fresh herbs ready to harvest might just turn you into a gourmet chef. Which are your favorite herbs? Could you grow them yourself? Master Gardener Kathy Mullin will share with you the many things she has learned about growing herbs. Come learn which are easy to grow and what you may need to do to grow those that are more challenging.

The programs will begin at 6:30 p.m. They are free and open to the public.
