LOST Camp

  • Camp is open to 7th-8th graders.
  • Held at the end of July
  • The camp is held at Grant Walker 4-H Educational Center, an 80-acre campsite located near Pollock, LA on Highway 8 about 15 miles northeast of Alexandria.
  • Cost is typically $200.

4-H Summer Camp

  • Camp is open to 4th-6th graders.
  • Held in the summer months.
  • The camp is held at Grant Walker 4-H Educational Center, an 80-acre campsite located near Pollock, LA on Highway 8 about 15 miles northeast of Alexandria.
  • Costs range from $200.00 to $225.00
  • Rules: To become a 4-H camp participant, an application must be filled out. The application link can be found in March and April newsletters. Selection is first come first serve.
  • Camp Counselors: Note Age Requirement: 15 years of age or at least a sophomore in high school. To apply for the job of counselor at 4-H Summer Camp complete the application and return it to 4-H Office.

4-H University

  • Camp is open to 8th-12th graders. * Usually held the third full week in June at LSU Baton Rouge Campus
  • Cost approximately $115.00
  • Rules: Sign up is emailed to all eligible 4-H members.
  • A meeting with all contestants is held and contest categories are assigned to contestants based on their selections prior to the meeting.
  • Trainings are held primarily in the month of June with contest coaches.

Junior Leadership Conference

  • Camp is open to youth ages 14 on up that are 4-H members.
  • Youth are selected from the parish Junior Leadership Club from an application process.
  • Each parish may send a maximum of eight delegates being four males and four females. It is okay if parishes are not able to follow gender ratios.
  • Alternates may apply to attend.
  • Youth that have already attended can attend again, but in a different track.
  • Held in March

Challenge Camp

  • Held in November.
  • Costs range from $85.00 to $95.00
  • Description: To challenge 7th - 8th graders to set high personal goals as a result of activities designed to develop: *A positive self-concept; *Interpersonal relationship skill; *Communication
  • Rules: Registration takes place through 4-HOnline.
  • Camp Counselors: Note Age Requirement: 15 years of age or at least a sophomore in high school. To apply for the job of Counselor at 4-H Summer Camp or Challenge Camp, complete the job application and return to 4-H Office.

Fashion & Beyond Tours

  • Open to youth in grades 5th-12th that are 4-H members.
  • Held in January.
  • The tours are typically held in Alexandria, LA and Crowley, LA.
  • Cost is typically $35.
  • 50 participants per location.
  • Youth will get a closer look at all aspects of the fashion world, from croque designs, color analysis, upcycling, service projects, to all basic sewing fundamentals.
