Originally from New Mexico, Mariela earned her M.S. in Plant & Environmental Science from NMSU and has a strong passion for agriculture and sustainable food systems.

She is passionate about supporting local gardeners and growers and especially enjoys developing school and community gardens to inspire youth and families. She has a 70% Horticulture and 30% 4-H appointment and serves Acadia Parish exclusively. She’s here to provide research-based information and answer your horticulture questions.
