Our program is dedicated to improving the health, well-being, and overall quality of life for residents of Assumption Parish. We provide practical, research-based nutrition education, engaging cooking demonstrations, youth development opportunities, and initiatives focused on chronic disease prevention. Through these efforts, we help individuals and families make informed choices that support long-term health.

We also work to strengthen healthy communities by supporting policy, systems, and environmental (PSE) changes that make healthy choices easier and more accessible. By collaborating with local partners, we help create sustainable improvements in places where people live, learn, work, and play.

As part of the LSU AgCenter, we offer reliable, evidence-based resources shaped by the needs of our local community. By collaborating with schools, parish agencies, faith-based organizations, food pantries, and other partners, we bring health education directly to the places where people live, learn, work, and connect.

The Assumption Healthy Communities Coalition (AHCC) is a collaborative partnership of local organizations, agencies, and community members committed to improving the health and quality of life in Assumption Parish. The coalition works to identify local health needs and implement sustainable solutions through policy, systems, and environmental (PSE) changes. By bringing together diverse partners—including schools, healthcare providers, government agencies, and community groups—we promote initiatives that increase access to healthy foods, opportunities for physical activity, and overall community well-being. Through shared leadership and coordinated efforts, the coalition strives to create a healthier environment where all residents can thrive.

The coalition meets bimonthly, typically on the last Monday of the month with the exception of holidays, at 10AM. Meetings are held in-person, and a virtual option is available through Microsoft Teams.
