Acceptance into the LSU AgCenter Louisiana Master Gardener Training Program is based upon your qualifications and the current volunteer needs of the County Agent. Space is limited due to classroom size. A Background Check will be performed on all applicants accepted into the Louisiana Master Gardener Training Program.
If accepted, you will be required to pay a $175 course fee, covering the cost of training materials, name tags, classroom supplies, and lab supplies. Do not send any payments with this application. Lunch format is a pot-luck style meals provided by the class and volunteers.
The Northwest Louisiana Master Gardener Volunteer program training is presented in person with supplemental information offered digitally. Class meetings will take place every Thursday from January 14 and March 25 from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the LSU AgCenter’s Red River Research Station, 210 Research Station Drive, Bossier City, LA 71112. During class meetings, lecture material will be presented in a traditional classroom format with activities and demonstrations performed as needed. Chapter quizzes, evaluations, individual student projects, and a final exam are utilized to maintain progress throughout the training. Students will be required to attend all training sessions, review all program material, and complete all required activities.
