DeSoto Parish

DeSoto Parish is located directly south of the Shreveport–Bossier City metropolitan area. The parish landscape is divided primarily between agricultural land, to include row crops, pasture, and extensive timberland. Historically, the parish economy has been primarily driven by agriculture. Beef cattle production continues to play an important role in the economy while timber production remains a major economic contributor. DeSoto Parish has experienced significant industrial growth in recent years with new developments expanding which is diversifying the local economy.
