The Louisiana 4-H Shooting Sports Program is an educational and competitive youth development program that teaches firearm safety, marksmanship, and outdoor conservation. Open to youth ages 9–19, the program focuses on building important life skills such as responsibility, discipline, teamwork, and self-confidence under the guidance of trained adult volunteers.
Rapides Parish offers three disciplines: .22 Rifle, Shotgun, and Archery. Our dedicated certified volunteer instructors devote countless hours to mentoring youth and teaching safe, responsible handling of firearms and equipment.
Participants must be a registered member of Rapides Parish
4-H. Must have hunter's safety card to compete if 9 years old or older by date
of competition.
Registration for Rapides Parish 4-H Shooting Sports opens August 1, 2026, and closes October 31, 2026.
To participate, youth must first enroll or re-enroll in Louisiana 4-H for the 2026–2027 club year by visiting here. Once enrollment is approved, log in to your child’s profile and navigate to the Events section. Select “Register for a New Event” and choose Rapides 4-H Shooting Sports. Complete the registration by answering all required questions, submitting payment, and finalizing enrollment.
The fee is $35 per discipline, and new members are limited to participating in one discipline.
Practices are held at Camp Grant Walker in Pollock, Louisiana. A detailed schedule will be shared with registered families once finalized, with practices typically taking place on Sunday afternoons from 1:00–3:00 PM.
Parents or guardians are responsible for transportation and must remain on-site during practice. Please note that the registration fee does not cover competition costs, ammunition, or equipment/supplies. We do have equipment available at practice if needed.
