The
Open Junior Market Swine Show will be held on
Saturday, Oct. 15, 2011 at
2:00 p.m. or immediately after the Goat Show. It will be held at the Rapides Parish Coliseum Fair Grounds.
Parish Rules and Regulations:
1. All classes of this division are open to youth exhibitors from the following parishes: Allen, Avoyelles, Beauregard, Catahoula, Concordia, Evangeline, Grant, LaSalle, Natchitoches, Pointe Coupee, Rapides, Sabine, St. Landry, Vernon, West Feliciana and Winn. Exhibitors from other parishes will be notified of their eligibility after the entry deadline date, provided that barn space is available.
2. Exhibitors must be under 20 years of age as of January 1, 2011, to be eligible to participate in the show.
3. Animals may enter the barn beginning at noon on Thursday, Oct. 13, 2011, and must be in the barn by noon on Friday, Oct. 14, 2011. All swine must remain in the barn until 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 16, 2011.
4. Entry forms (see link below) must be postmarked on or before Oct. 3, 2011 to be eligible to participate in the Open Junior Swine Breeding Show. These forms should be mailed to: Rapides Parish Fair, 300 Grady Britt Drive, Alexandria, Louisiana 71302. Entry forms may be obtained from your local county agent.
5. All exhibitors are required to furnish water, feed troughs, feed and hay. No hay is to be used for feed or bedding in the bedding area. Exhibitors will be responsible for care of their animals and for cleaning stalls and aisles during the fair.
6. All animals must be tied in their assigned spaces from 10:00 a.m.-9:00 p.m. each day, except when being groomed and exhibited. Exhibitors violating this rule will forfeit premium money.)
7. Premium checks will be mailed to exhibitors following the show. Exhibitors who leave prior to the release time will forfeit all premium money.
8. Exhibitors are required to show their own animals.

3rd Place - $15.00
4th Place - $12.50
5th Placem- $10.00
Market Hogs
Entries in this class shall be limited to barrows and gilts weighing not less than 215 pounds or more than 285 pounds on entry day. For market hogs, all breeds will be combined and shown by weight. Market classes will be divided if there are more than 12 entries per class. Market swine not meeting the above requirements will not be allowed to compete for Grand Champion or Reserve Grand Champion.

Showmanship
1. All contestants must use their own animals.
2. In all classes, the age of the contestant is computed as of Jan. 1, 2011.
1st - $15.00
2nd -$12.50
3rd - $10.00
4th- $7.50
5th - $5.00
Classes:
1. 15 years of age and older.
2. 13-14 years of age.
3. 11-12 years of age.
4. 10 years of age and younger.
