Ever dreamed of becoming a queen? Here's your chance. The Rapides Parish Fair Association Queen's Contest will be held on date (TBA) in Alexandria, Louisiana. The rules and regulations to participate are listed here. An application is also attached.

Who May Compete

Any female resident of Rapides Parish whose parents are also residents of the parish, between the ages of 16 and 20. Contestant must be 16 on or before Dec. 31, 2016, and shall not have reached her 21st birthday before Dec. 31, 2016. A copy of birth certificate MUST be included with entry form. She must be single, must never have been married or divorced, and must remain single during year of reign.

Judging

Contestants entered in the Rapides Fair Association Queen's Contest will be judged on interview and stage appearance, which includes poise, personality, beauty and intelligence. Additional points will be awarded based on the contestant’s written summary of 4-H, FFA and Fair participation.

Activities

Contestants will be expected to attend registration, a private interview with panel of judges, stage rehearsal and the pageant. All of these will be held on Saturday, Sept. 11, 2015 at the Sai Convention Center, 2301 North McArthur Drive, Alexandria, Louisiana. Awards – The Queen will receive a gift, a bouquet of roses, and a $500.00 scholarship to the learning institute of her choice, to be indicated at time of registration. Failure to complete all duties may result in loss of scholarship. Conflicts in schedule must be discussed with the Queen Committee in advance and exceptions may be permitted.

Duties of Rapides Fair Association Queen

The Queen will represent the Rapides Fair Association at the Parish Fair and other events as requested by the association. The Queen will reign until her successor is crowned. The Queen must wear her crown and sash at all official fair appearances. Additional sashes may be provided at the expense of the Rapides Fair Association. The Queen will participate in association activities as requested by this organization. The Queen will represent, possibly, the Rapides Fair Association at the Louisiana Fairs and Festivals Convention at the expense of the Rapides Fair Association.

Rules and Regulations

Each contestant must file an official entry form with the Queen Committee before Sept. 11, 2015. Each contestant must register and attend the interview session on Saturday, October 4, 2014, in formal gown. The Queen must participate in next year’s pageant.
