Dear Potential Sponsor,

Ron Strahan.

We are very proud of the work we do at the LSU AgCenter, especially here in the Northwest Region. Our agents are committed to enhancing the lives of those in their communities, whether it be through the 4-H Youth Development Program, through the Nutrition and Community Health Program or through providing resources and guidance for producers and farmers, with Agriculture and Natural Resources agents. The Red River Research Station is no exception; researchers, faculty, and staff are continuously searching for ways to improve the lives of others, through research-based material.

On October 11-12, 2024, the Red River Research Station will be hosting the 2nd Annual Homesteader's Conference. Last year, the Homesteader's Conference hosted over 600 people, due to the popularity and community interest, this year's event will be two days. As a result of the success, a Homesteader's Series has been initiated, hosting several field days throughout the year that highlight specific topics, that all lead back to the Annual Homesteader's Conference held in October. Since the pandemic in 2020, more individuals have turned to Homesteading to produce their own food and materials. Homesteading has quickly risen, however the education of producing one's own food has been lost among this generation. The AgCenter is committed to meeting the needs of our communities and creating opportunities to provide research-based information. The Homesteader's Conference offers a variety of educational talks, speakers, demonstrations, and vendor opportunities covering many topics such as:

  • How to become a homesteader
  • Producing high yielding vegetable gardens
  • Processing poultry on your farm
  • Care and management of livestock
  • Generating income on the farm
  • Beekeeping
  • Preserving your harvest-canning, freezing, and other food preservation methods
  • Protecting your homestead

The Homesteader's Conference committee is searching for potential sponsors, and due to the volume of this event, funds have become limited. Funds would be utilized towards equipment rentals, and travel budgets for guest speakers. We would greatly appreciate your company or business' support.

If you feel inclined to contribute towards the Red River Research Station's Homesteader's Conference, please fill out and return the attached sheet below.
