Plaquemines & St. Bernard Parishes Downriver Master Gardeners

Belle Chasse Community Garden

The Belle Chasse Community Garden was first established on October 9th, 2021, on 2 acres of donated land from the Belle Chasse corporation Aquaria. Since then, we have added approximately 4,000 cubic yards of donated construction soil and amendments from a local contractor. The community garden is currently seeking out local sponsors that will be willing to donate materials and funds to keep the project moving forward. The Belle Chasse Community Garden is also looking for local volunteers to work and enjoy the rewards of a local community garden that is open to all interested parties to help supplement their nutrition with local fresh organic fruits and vegetables.

AgMagic on the River

AgMagic is designed for youth in grades 3rd-5th and is hosted by the LSU AgCenter and the Meraux Foundation. Over 12,000 students from the Greater New Orleans area visit Docville Farm where they are taken on a tour to different educational stations and introduced to a variety of topics revolving around production of food, clothing, and lumber. To once again have a successful event we need volunteers to assist with presenting information to students at the different stations throughout AgMagic. Many of you assisted in the past and hopefully you will be able to join us again this year!
