Fort Randolph and Buhlow State Historic Site Visitor Center Garden and Kitchen Garden

CenLa Master Gardeners maintain a flower bed that is located outside of the visitors center. This beautification project allows visitors to see various flowering plants and greenery that does well in this area. The Kitchen Garden is located at the Fort Randolph and Buhlow State Historic Site along the walking trail. This project is maintained weekly by CenLa Master Gardeners. Produce is harvested and donated to the Alexandria Food Bank and the Manna House.

Kent House Garden and Flower Beds

The Kent House is a historic site located in Alexandria, Louisiana that has multiple events throughout the year and tours. The CenLa Master Gardeners have an ongoing beautification project where they maintain flower beds throughout the year. The Kent House Garden is another area that is maintained by our association. Seasonal produce and native plants are grown in this garden for educational purposes. The food grown in this garden is donated to the Central Louisiana Food Bank.


Alexandria Zoo Butterfly Garden

Our association plants and maintains the butterfly garden inside of the Alexandria Zoo. The garden contains various flowering plants that provide pollen for various insects.

Wee Care Garden

This project is designed as a learning activity for children ages 3-5. They participate in planting and maintaining a small sensory garden. They get to observe and learn about how plants grow and even get to taste the produce.


The Carlos Smith Memorial Garden

This is a beautification project located at the Avoyelles Extension Office in memory of Carlos Smith, a former extension agent.

Plaucheville Elementary School Garden

This garden is maintained by the special needs students of Plaucheville Elementary School and the Cenla Master Gardeners.


Native Plant Garden Bed and Pollinator Project

These two project are separate but located a few feet from each other. The Pollinator Habitat is located on the LSUA Campus and provide various flowering plants for pollinators. The native plant garden bed is located at the Dean Lee Research Station. The native plant bed provides food and habitat for various insects and provides educational material to learn about a few native plants that grow in our region.
