Dr. Gillian Eggleston, Referee for General Subject 7 – Cane Processing, delivered her report virtually at the 34th ICUMSA Session, held March 3–5, 2025, in Delhi, India. She was supported by Alexa Triplett and Stephania Imbachi Ordonez during the presentation.

Two major recommendations from Audubon Sugar Institute were successfully accepted:

  1. Conduct an inter-laboratory analysis of Method GS7-36 (2024): Spectrophotometric Determination of Total, Soluble, and Insoluble Starch in Cane Raw Sugars using Microwave-Assisted Neutralisation.
  2. Draft a new ICUMSA method for Polarimetric Analysis of Cane Juices, Syrups, Molasses, and Raw Sugars using Auto Filtration Equipment, and initiate an intra-laboratory analysis.

These successes underscore Audubon’s active role in advancing global sugar processing standards.
