An Introduction to the Technology of Sugar Production Course

The course provides practical, industry-relevant knowledge of the key stages of sugar processing.

You should attend if:

  • You have no (or limited) experience in sugar production
  • You want to learn how both raw and refined sugar are produced
  • You’re looking to understand the principles and operations behind sugar manufacturing

Course Content:

  • Cane harvesting and storage
  • Milling
  • Clarification and mud filtration
  • Evaporation and crystallization
  • Centrifugation and sugar handling
  • Sugar refining

You will also learn about:

  • Cane payment systems
  • Mass balances across sugar factories and sucrose losses
  • Environmental issues related to sugar production
  • Utility usage (water, steam, energy)
  • General factors affecting production cost

This course is ideal for new hires, engineers, supervisors, students, and technical staff involved in sugar manufacturing or related sectors.

Cost and Registration:

The seminar is free of charge for Louisiana sugar factory staff. A small fee will apply for participants from other industries.
