Introduction to Sugar Boiling for the Sugar Industry Course

Large sugar processing facility with boilers, ducts, and multicolored towers releasing steam under a blue sky.This course is designed for the student with no (or limited) sugar boiling experience. Each day consists of 1-1/2 hours of lecture followed by sugar boiling in our 15 gal (pilot) sugar pan.

You Should Attend If:

You have no (or limited) sugar boiling experience, want to gain an understanding of the principles involved and learn to boil sugar.

You Can Expect To:

  • Learn some background on sugar crystallization
  • Get an understanding of how a pan works
  • Learn how to concentrate syrup to supersaturation
  • Seed and grow a sugar strike
  • Gain a good practical grasp of sugar boiling

Content You Can Count On:

  • An overview of sugar boiling
  • Effect of steam, vacuum, purity on sugar boiling
  • Boiling pan in pilot plant yourself and making sugar

Registration fee:

Registration fee for students sponsored by a Louisiana sugar factory is $1000 per person, all others $1250 per person.
