Shooting Sports Sign-Up Meeting

Date: Thursday, August 27

Important Notes

  • Payment must be cash or check only.
  • No credit or debit cards accepted.
  • Bring your own pen.
  • Youth should bring a copy of their Hunter Education card if they have one.

Time: 5:30 p.m.

Location: Sheriff's Substation, 2510 Viking Drive

Community Service Projects

September Project

Bossier 4-H members are asked to donate applesauce cups and/or fruit cups for the Pack A Sack Project. Items will be collected in October. Members earn 50 Clover Bucks for each item donated.

October Project

Members can help sponsor a night for the Salvation Army by donating funds for food, lodging and supplies. Members earn 100 Clover Bucks for every $1 donated. Each night costs $10 per person. Funds will be collected in November.

Clover Bucks earned throughout the year can be used at the Fun Day Store.


4-H Summer Camp

A special thank you to Phil McMillian, Nathan McMillian, Megan McMillian, Beverly Bagwell, Courtney Terral and Lisa Holt for serving as adult leaders at Camp Grant Walker.

Congratulations also to teen counselors:

4-H Night with the Mudbugs

Join Bossier 4-H for a night with the Mudbugs on Friday, January 8.

Each $20 ticket includes:

  • Game admission
  • Ice skating before the game
  • Activities in the Ag Building
  • Dinner (chicken tenders, nachos or hot dog)

Tickets must be purchased by December 11.

Penny Drive

Keep saving your pennies.

Funds collected help support monthly meeting supplies and Fun Day activities.

The contest ends April 16, and the top donating school will receive an award at Awards Night in May.


October Contest: Miniature Pumpkin Decorating

Show off your creativity by decorating a miniature pumpkin.

Rules

  • No carving allowed.
  • Large pumpkins will not be accepted.
  • Entries remain at the school.

Ideas include:

  • Spider
  • Cat
  • Pin cushion
  • Muffin
  • Any original creation

First through fifth place ribbons will be awarded, along with participation ribbons.

Check with your club leader to determine whether your school is participating.


National 4-H Shooting Sports

Congratulations to the Bossier Parish youth who represented Louisiana at the National Shooting Sports Competition:

  • Megan Wallace, Airline High School, .22 Rifle
  • Shane Mitchell, Benton High School, Muzzle Loader
  • Justice Litwiler, Clover Clusters, .22 Pistol

Special recognition goes to Eric Farquhar, who served as the Louisiana .22 Pistol Coach.

Louisiana earned first place in the nation.


Operation Christmas Wish

Beginning in November, Bossier 4-H will partner with the Bossier Sheriff's Department to collect new, unwrapped toys for children ages newborn through 12.

Donated toys will benefit children throughout Bossier Parish.

Members will receive 100 Clover Bucks for each toy donated.

Toy collection will take place on December 4, 2026, beginning at 8:00 a.m.


Holiday Meat Fundraiser

The Holiday Meat Fundraiser begins on September 28 and ends on October 27.

This annual fundraiser helps support:

  • 4-H Camp scholarships
  • Graduating senior scholarships
  • Parish awards
  • Other 4-H activities

The fundraiser features products from Southern Heritage.

To place an order, contact the Bossier 4-H Office at 318-965-2326.

Orders will be picked up at: Benton Courthouse Annex 200 Burt Blvd., Benton

Pick-up date and time will be announced later.


NRA Foundation Grant

Bossier Parish 4-H Shooting Sports received a $2,500 NRA Foundation Grant this year.

These funds help purchase equipment and supplies for shooting sports disciplines.

Thank you to the National Rifle Association for supporting youth programs.


Cloverbuds

Enrollment and Information Meeting

  • September 15
  • 5:15–6:15 p.m.
  • Sheriff's Substation, 2510 Viking Drive

The Cloverbuds Club is open to youth in grades K-3.

Monthly meetings will be held on Tuesdays from 5:30–6:15 p.m.

October Meeting

Annual dues are $10 per child.


Bossier 4-H Pet Show

Date: October 5

Location: Bossier Parish Central Library

Schedule

  • Registration begins at 5:00 p.m.
  • Show begins at 5:30 p.m.

Pets of all kinds are welcome except:

  • Wildlife
  • Snakes
  • Poisonous animals

  • Best Dressed
  • Best in Show

Proof of vaccinations is required.

Pre-registration closes October 2.
