RNR welcomes Jackie Satter to the faculty as an instructor. Satter obtained her Bachelor of Science degree from RNR as a wildlife ecology major in 2015. She then worked in Dr. Kevin Ringelman’s laboratory at LSU on a project funded by the California Department of Fish and Wildlife and the U.S. Geological Survey before obtaining her Master of Science in Avian Science and her doctorate (in progress) in ecology from the University of California, Davis. At Davis, she studied “How Community Dynamics of Overwintering Dabbling Ducks are Influenced by Trends in Diet and Body Condition” under the guidance of Dr. John Eadie. Satter will be teaching classes in natural resource conservation, principles of wildlife management, natural resource ecology and wildlife management techniques starting in the fall.

A person with long brown hair, wearing a blue shirt, holds a Northern Pintail duck and gently touches noses with it. The duck has a slender neck, pointed tail, and a brown head with a white stripe down its neck. They are inside a mesh enclosure, suggesting a bird sanctuary or zoo, and the moment captures a close, affectionate interaction between human and bird.
