Title: 4-H animal
science and agriculture awareness and literacy specialist
Location: Baton Rouge, LSU Campus
Strategic Goal Focus: Expand the talent pipeline through youth development, ag leadership
and college academic and workforce development programming that returns talent
to rural communities in Louisiana.
Hannah Devall is helping shape youth agricultural advocates through the Louisiana 4-H Livestock Ambassador program. The initiative provides high school students with hands-on training in animal science, leadership and agricultural advocacy. Under her guidance, ambassadors receive collegiate-level instruction, participate in farm tours and contribute to livestock programming across the state. Devall’s work ensures that students not only gain technical knowledge but also learn how to represent and promote the livestock industry in their communities.
Devall’s efforts are shaping the next generation of agricultural leaders. By combining science education with leadership development, she’s helping youth build confidence, professionalism and a deep understanding of food animal production. Her program has reached thousands across Louisiana, contributing to both economic impact and community engagement. Through mentorship and innovative programming, Devall is fostering a culture of agricultural literacy and advocacy that will benefit Louisiana for years to come.
“It’s an incredible honor to help young people discover their voice and leadership potential through agriculture. Watching them grow into confident advocates for our industry reminds me every day why this work matters — not just for their future, but for the future of Louisiana agriculture.”
The ambassador model Devall champions offers a replicable framework for youth agricultural education nationwide. By integrating leadership, advocacy and science, it prepares students to be informed voices in the global conversation about food systems and sustainability.
