Ascension 4-H Demo Day

Demo Day is a great way for 4-H'ers to practice their speaking skills or to show off their creativity by participating in the Exhibit and Poster Contests. Demo Day will take place TBD for 2026.

Check-in and exhibit registration/drop-off will take place from 8 am until 9:00 am. At 9:00 am, judging will begin. All speaking and demonstration contestants should arrive by 8:45 am.

A list of contests is below. Click the individual contest tabs on the left for more detailed rules and guidelines.

This event should be completed by noon. We invite 4-H members to participate in a few planned activities/workshops while judging takes place.

  • Public Speaking (Senior-level winners may be eligible for a 4-H University Scholarship)
  • Interview Preparation (Senior-level winners may be eligible for a 4-H University Scholarship)
  • Dress Review Garment Judging (Formerly Sew with Cotton)
  • Ready to Wear Garment Judging and Contest
  • Exhibits (can be turned into the 4-H office prior to Demo Day) Exhibit Categories are as follows:
    • Arts & Crafts (Accessories, Jewelry, Paper, Plastic, wood, other)
    • Photography (5x7 framed prints; Animals, Nature, People)
    • Recycled Art (Create art using used items only)
    • Posters:
      • Beef– top posters sent on to state competition where cash prizes are awarded,
      • Dairy– top posters sent on to state competitions, or
      • 4-H Themed
    • Sewing (Non-Wearable Only)
    • Project Exhibit– Educational display board about your 4-H project area. Small props are acceptable to enhance the display.
    • Decorated Wreath Contest
  • General & Food Demonstrations
  • LifeBook Cover Design Competition
