4-H Camp is one of the most exciting experiences available to 4-H members. Each summer, youth from across the state come together at the Grant Walker 4-H Educational Center in Pollock, Louisiana, for a week filled with adventure, learning, leadership, and fun.

For more than 100 years, 4-H has helped young people build confidence, develop life skills, and make lasting friendships. Camp provides a unique opportunity for youth to unplug from everyday routines, connect with nature, and experience personal growth in a safe and supportive environment.

During camp, participants enjoy a variety of educational and recreational activities including swimming, canoeing, outdoor games, fitness activities, team-building challenges, arts and crafts, and leadership development programs. Campers also take part in evening activities, dances, talent showcases, and other special events designed to create memories that last a lifetime.

One of the best parts of 4-H Camp is the chance to meet new friends from across Louisiana. Camp encourages youth to work together, build teamwork skills, develop independence, and gain confidence while having fun.

When not participating in scheduled activities, campers can enjoy free-time options such as swimming, volleyball, softball, badminton, ping-pong, board games, crafts, and other recreational opportunities.

Camp is held at the Grant Walker 4-H Educational Center, a beautiful 100-acre facility located approximately 15 miles northeast of Alexandria on Highway 8. The center has served as Louisiana's state 4-H summer camp facility for more than 88 years and is recognized as the oldest 4-H camp in the South.

Each summer, parishes from across Louisiana attend camp on a rotating schedule throughout a ten-week season that runs from early June through August. Every camp session features exciting activities, educational programs, and a unique annual theme that helps make each year a new adventure.

Sending your child to 4-H Camp is an investment in their growth, independence, and confidence. Camp provides youth with a safe, supervised environment where they can learn new skills, build friendships, and experience life away from home while having fun.

Throughout the week, campers participate in educational and recreational activities that encourage teamwork, leadership, responsibility, and personal development. They learn to work together, appreciate people from different backgrounds and experiences, and develop valuable social skills that extend far beyond camp.

Campers receive three nutritious meals each day along with snacks and access to water throughout the week. In addition to scheduled activities, campers have opportunities to enjoy swimming, crafts, games, evening programs, and other recreational experiences. Spending money is optional and generally only needed for purchases from the camp store, which offers souvenirs, snacks, and other camp-related items.

The safety and well-being of campers is our highest priority. 4-H Agents, trained adult volunteers, and teen counselors from each parish attend camp and provide supervision throughout the week. All volunteers who work directly with youth complete the LSU AgCenter's required screening and training process to help ensure a safe and positive experience for every camper.

We understand that attending camp can be a big step for both youth and parents. Our goal is to create an environment where campers feel supported, included, and encouraged as they make new friends, develop life skills, and create memories that will last a lifetime.

Louisiana 4-H Youth Summer Camp is much more than a week of outdoor activities.
