The Food Innovation Institute's Food Incubator program supports early-stage food entrepreneurs developing FDA-compliant products and preparing to bring them to market — with practical guidance, technical support, and access to resources at every stage of commercialization.

How the Process Works


Four-step FOODii application process: submit an expression of interest, team review, informational seminar, and follow-up discussion with qualified applicants.

Who We Serve


FOODii serves early-stage entrepreneurs, startup food companies, small food businesses, and FDA-regulated product developers.


Client Requirements


Business & technical engagement

  • Participate in business and technical consultations
  • Collaborate on product development and commercialization planning

Documentation & traceability

  • Maintain complete records of ingredients, packaging, and finished products
  • Provide documentation for traceability and compliance

Business planning

  • Submit a business plan
  • Submit a cash-flow analysis

Regulatory compliance

  • Comply with FDA regulations as mandated by the Louisiana Dept. of Health
  • Adhere to all FOODii policies and food safety requirements

Insurance

  • Obtain and maintain business liability insurance prior to commercial production



Entrepreneur bootcamp

  • Mandatory attendance within 6 months of onboarding as a FOODii tenant

Food safety & quality

  • Participate in required trainings, assessments, and product reviews
  • Follow established GMPs and facility operating procedures

Training

  • Complete FOODii safety and GMP orientation before accessing production spaces




FOODii Client Policies


Hours of Operation

Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. Specialized production or pilot plant access may be arranged based on project needs.



Fees & payments

Fee-based services include product development, technical consultations, food safety guidance, pilot-scale processing, and facility/equipment usage. Clients are invoiced per their service agreement.



Facility use

Clients sign a Facility Use Agreement covering responsibilities, equipment use, food safety expectations, scheduling, and fees.



Ingredients & scheduling

Clients must ensure ingredients, packaging, and documentation are ready before scheduled production. FOODii may reschedule sessions if requirements aren't met in advance.



Food safety commitment

All products must comply with applicable federal, state, and local regulations governing FDA-regulated food products throughout development and commercialization.
